Aig Individuals & Personal Insurance

Before you visit us, please confirm with your insurers that your medical treatment is covered. It is also a good idea to keep them informed throughout your treatment as some policies may restrict the level of your cover. Also please check the terms and conditions of your policy thoroughly.

If you start a new policy, any medical conditions you’ve had in the past 5 years will be excluded until you’ve spent 2 years free of symptoms, treatment, medication or advice for that condition. Medically necessary healthcare means healthcare that cannot reasonably wait until you come back to the UK. Whether treatment is necessary is decided by the healthcare provider in the country you’re visiting. WPA is unique amongst UK insurers in achieving four highly regarded and internationally recognised standards across our company. These standards reflect our service excellence provided to our customers, whether big global employers, medium sized businesses or the many thousands of UK individuals and families.

Members rate our claim service as excellent, with an average rating of 4.8 out of 5. After you’ve made a claim we’ll invite you to rate the service you received from us during the process.

Our private gives you fast access to eligible health treatment when you need it. Most private health insurance policies will not cover pre-existing conditions. These are normally health issues you’ve been treated for in the last five years, although some insurers may put a time limit at four years or less. Health insurance covers the cost of any private healthcare you receive. Health insurance typically covers the cost of treatment for acute conditions that occur after your policy has begun. It can include cover for treatment as an inpatient, an outpatient, and a day patient, depending on the level of cover you choose to put in place.

Here, you’ll likely have to pay something towards the cover you receive, with your health insurance policy covering the rest. Health insurance is also known as private medical insurance and pays for treatment if you’re ill or have suffered an injury or accident. An excess is the amount you’ll have to pay towards your treatment when you make a claim on your health insurance policy. Having an excess reduces the cost of your cover and you can choose different excesses for each member covered. Before taking out health insurance, you’ll need to decide what health insurance cover is right for your health and wellbeing needs.

However, you will have to pay this amount if you need treatment. Excesses are paid once per person per membership year towards your first eligible claims. If you become ill or suffer from an acute condition, you should visit your GP who will be able to refer you to a specialist for diagnosis or for further tests. At this stage, you need to get in touch with your health insurance provider if you want to get private medical treatment under your health insurance plan.

You can purchase PMI easily online, whether direct from a private healthcare provider or by using a price comparison website. You can also go to an independent adviser, who will seek out the best deal for your individual circumstances. It’s important to know that pre-existing conditions are not usually covered either.
