On this course you have the opportunity to study a range of social science disciplines including sociology, history, geography, psychology and politics. The College of Social Sciences brings together over 450 academics and over 360 professional staff across a range of disciplines and interdisciplinary fields. In your first year you’ll study social policy, sociology and gain a firm grounding in research methods and sources of data.

Politics focuses on democracy and the relationship between people and policy, at all levels up from the individual to a national and international level. Linguistics focuses on language and how people communicate through spoken sounds and words. For ESRC this includes computational linguistics, psycholinguistics, sociolinguistics, language acquisition and interdisciplinary social science research involving linguistics. Advanced entry into Year 2 or Year 3 is possible for students with suitable qualifications.
